FAQ
What is Reppo?
Reppo is a decentralized platform and protocol leveraging on-chain prediction markets for AI training data — enabling open contribution, verification, and monetization of high-quality datasets.
So is it a blockchain or an AI platform?
Today, it's an AI platform powered by Reppo Protocol.
The platform is for the production of AI training, evals + benchmarking data, and can be used to generate datasets unrelated to artificial intelligence, given it's decentralized and permissionless nature.
Reppo is currently deployed on Base. $REPPO, Reppo's utility token, will serve to incentivize activity across the platform.
So what is a subnet?
A subnet is a community that produces the dataset in a competitive market, with Reppo Protocol keeping track of and incentivizing the activities required for this production.
Anyone can create a subnet by paying a dynamic fee in $REPPO, or participate in an existing subnet.
How does competition work in a subnet?
The work to be performed by miners and validators and is defined by the subnet creator. Today, the subnet owner simply adopts the core incentive mechanism described here but in the future, we will enable the ability for subnet owners to build custom incentive mechanisms.
What exactly is the task of a subnet miner?
The task of miners is different in each subnet. Some subnets will want to source AI generated content from specific set of domain expert content creators while others will want to only source human feedback from verified domain experts on custom content that subnet owners bring. The work of subnet owners is supported by infrastructure as a service providers, including storage or compute, in the Reppo ecosystem.
Do subnets talk to each other?
If they are public, then yes. If they are private, no. The datasets generated in each subnet is monetized by the subnet owner who rewards the miners and validators. The network does burn the $REPPO fee paid by subnet creators to accrue value to $REPPO Holders.
Mining and validation
Is mining and validation in Reppo the same as in Bitcoin or Bittensor?
No.
On Reppo "mining" within subnets involves with production of the source data needed to generate AI training data. Similarly, "validation" concerns with providing curated preferences data and human feedback on the work performed by miners.
What is the incentive to be a miner or a validator, or create a subnet?
Reppo incentivizes participation through emission of REPPO. Each week, 100k REPPO are emitted into the network.
The emission distribution of $REPPO is as follows:
5% to active subnet owners
5% to Reppo Treasury
45% to publishers (miners)
45% to the voters (validators)
See the canonical schedule in Tokenomics.
I don't want to create a subnet, can I just be a miner or a validator?
Yes, you can!
